THE KIND OF 'FAKING IT' EVERY GIRL SHOULD KNOW ABOUT!

My attempts at culinary excellence has always started and ended in the same way; with a fire extinguisher taking front and centre. While I cannot find fault with having a devilishly handsome fireman on my speed dial and in my kitchen every time I decide to play chef, it does get a tad on the cringe worthy side. So, being the independent and feisty gal I am - action was needed. I had to have something that made me look insanely good in the kitchen, all the while making the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. Most importantly, it couldn't be intimidating.  I found it! And lucky for me, my kitchen, plus the poor fireman, this new find turns every cooking nightmare into a feast of flavour.

Zhoozsh! Faking It is the second book released by Jeremy Mansfield and his super gorgeous wife Jacqui. Their first book Zhoozsh! was an international bestseller and this new one promises to be just the same. My fabulous friends have packed this book with incredible recipes that not only look sensational from their pictures but taste just as yummy too. The best part about these recipe's is the time it takes to whip up. Trust us, your dinner guests will think you've slaved away the entire day in the kitchen just for them, when in actual fact you had enough time to pretty yourself and the dogs up in time to make din din.

We put the Zhoozsh! Faking It recipe's to the test. We wanted to see just how easy they were to make, plus how much time it took to make. Good old fashioned apple pie, the kind your gran used to make for Sunday brunch. Sounds too hard right? Wrong. We had the batter mixed up in just 15 minutes and popped it into the oven for 30 minutes. The result? A golden brown apple pie that looked like we'd poured our hearts and souls into. It tasted so good and lasted 2 days in the Rave offices. Take a peek below. We've given you three snaps shots, sort of like a 'before and after' just so you can see how easy it was.

This book is a treasure trove of yumminess. From tasty dishes like Peanut Butter Chicken, to easy peasy Pasta dishes, and decadent desserts like Chocolate Mousse, Tiramisu and Lemon Meringue. There are also recipe's for doggy treats which means your pooch can also indulge.

Zhoozsh! Faking It gave me some confidence in the kitchen, and you know how we like a strong, gutsy gal at Rave Review. Now if you'll all excuse me, I have some major cuisine to rustle up and a handsome fireman to page. This time I have a feeling that with Zhoozsh! by my side the only fire this fireman will be putting out won't be in the kitchen!

Zhoozsh! Faking It is available at all leading bookstores. It retails for R112 on Kalahari
