QUEEN IT'S A KINDA MAGIC

I will never forget the first time that I heard QUEEN perform. I was watching their Live at Wembley concert DVD with my sister and we were completely and utterly mesmerised. There was just something about Freddie Mercury. It was his eccentricity, his stage presence, charisma, and yes, that unmistakable voice. Our instant love affair with QUEEN spanned throughout our teenage years, adult years, and even now in my thirties - their music continues to impact and inspire me. The music that QUEEN made

transcended race, genders, sexuality and even religions. Their music touched a part of everybody and when that dark day came when Freddie died, millions of fans mourned the loss of arguably the greatest and most charismatic entertainer of them all. Lucky for us, there’s a group four men who are bringing the magic of QUEEN back to life; they will leave you breathless, they’ll leave you speechless, and they’ll leave you wanting more, and more, and more.

QUEEN IT’S A KINDA MAGIC is not a tribute show. It’s not a play about the story of the band, their ups and downs or even a biography. This show is a loud and proud, rip roaring, amp blasting concert experience - and it’s one you’ll never forget. What makes it so special is its authenticity and humility; it’s most definitely the greatest re-enactment of any QUEEN concert on stage.

The stars of the show really are just that - stars. They each shine in their roles. Giles Taylor takes on the role of Freddie Mercury. This talented musician doesn’t just have the voice, but he brings all of Freddie’s gestures, eccentricities and nuances back to life. From his over the top presence on stage to the vulnerable side of Freddie in the slower songs; Giles has to be our favourite Freddie of them all. And we’ve seen this show about ten times in the past 10 years.

To say that Giles is backed by three incredible musicians is not a fair statement, because they don’t just back him up - they all come together as one unit, and their talents explode! The chemistry from these four talented musicians is undeniable. Richie Baker as Brian May on guitar is incredibly impressive, with South Africa’s very ownSteven Dennettas John Deacon on bass.Kyle Thompson as Roger Taylor on drums is on another level. He is the beating PULSE of this show - he smashes it by delivering the best drum skills we have ever seen, and a solo that would make even the real Roger Taylor proud, and a little intimidated!

QUEEN IT’S A KINDA MAGIC features over twenty original QUEEN hits, including We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Fat Bottom Girls, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen, A Kind of Magic, Radio Ga Ga, Don’t Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Play the Game, I Want to Break Free, Who Wants to Live Forever and many more.

This is another fabulous show brought to you by Showtime Australia’s Johnny Van Grinsven, who has proven time and time again that when it comes to finding the best talent the world has to offer, that nobody can do it like he can. I will never ever call one of Johnny’s shows a tribute act. They are more than that. His show’s are a class act.

What I witness at a Showtime Australia production not only floor me, but always proves two things to me; firstly, Johnny Van Grinsven is the only person out there who can  find the best talent in the world, but secondly, he moulds them, and transforms them into the singers we have lost, but continue to love and adore. He does it with integrity and authenticity. Nobody else comes close to what Johnny creates on a stage - it really is food for the soul.

It’s A Kinda Magic is a must see. It brings back the music and memories with incredible nerve and profound integrity. Showtime Australia make you feel, they make you dance, but most importantly, they make you remember. Giles Taylor IS Freddie Mercury; Richie Baker IS Brian May; Steven Dennett IS John Deacon; and Kyle Thompson IS Roger Taylor - they have the looks, the heart, and those unforgettable melodies. It’s the QUEEN we loved, the QUEEN we still love, and the QUEEN we will always remember. It's pure magic!
