The 1920's had Swing music; 30's and 40's saw Jazz taking front and centre. But the 1950's and 60’s - thats my absolute favourite era of them all. It had something special, and it’s never gone out of style. Good old fashioned Pop Rock, Doo Wop, and Rock & Roll. The over sized sunglasses, hula hoop skirts and bee hive hairstyles may have fizzled out like yesterdays news but the iconic style that is Doo Wop music is alive and in full voice at the Joburg Theatre.

Direct from London, BYE BYE BABY, having taken the UK by storm in 2015, is now performing for South African audiences on the Mandela stage at the Joburg Theatre.

This absolutely gorgeous show is a fresh take on the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. BYE BYE BABY takes audiences on the bands journey - their highs, their lows, and everything in-between. We start at the beginning and end with how they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

This show is an absolute master class in pop rock music. A cast with voices that will leave you absolutely breathless. These four handsome and charming entertainers take you on an incredible journey. Their chemistry is endless, their voices are boundless, and their energy, unstoppable. You will not stop singing, that is a promise. We guarantee that you will know the words to every single song no matter your age, and by the end of the show you will be on your feet dancing away, feeling as through you have just seen the real deal live.  No song is left unsung, and for that reason we leave BYE BYE BABYfeeling completely satisfied.

BYE BYE BABY is just magic.  It is so endearing. There are no smoke and whistles on stage, no extravagant gimmicks and that is a testament to this incredible cast and their band. They don’t need it. The magic they exude comes purely from their voices, their harmonies and the live band.

Their ability and passion for their craft resonates, and we're pretty sure we felt every note going straight through our bodies! Always an awesome feat when just four artists on one stage can create that in a theatre that seats almost 2000 people.

The show features classics such as; Bye Bye Baby, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a

Man, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Silence is Golden, The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine

Anymore, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, and many more. My personal favourites were Fallen Angel, My Eyes Adored You, Rag Doll and Working My Way Back!

So lets talk about the four guys who dazzle you for two hours. Taking on the ginormous role of Frankie Valli is Jamie Ledwith, and boy, does he deliver. His vocal range is just astounding!  The songwriter of the group, Bob Gaudio is played byMitchell Rutterand he is fabulous.Tim Kaytakes on the role of smart talking Tommy Devito, which he plays to perfection; and Daniel Goddardbrings charm and swag to the role of Nick Massi.

Music most definitely makes the world go round. It defines the time and age we live in and we can't think of a better show to encapsulate the genre that has birthed iconic musicians and superstars as this one does. BYE BYE BABYdelights the audiences who grew up with these songs, and delights a brand new generation who are only now celebrating it.

Don't be fooled; BYE BYE BABY is NOT a tribute show, it's an immortalisation of Pop Rock’s most sensational foursome and celebrates the singer's who made the genre unforgettable. The cast is astounding, the music is timeless, and the legends, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, live on for generations to come.
